Hi all! I am very happy to have found this place. Tchad has been a / the major inspiration for me when it comes to a broader mixing philosophy. Wanted to make this post to also ask a question about something I really love: It's the drums on this Black Keys record. Especially this doubling / widening effect more obvious in songs like "Tighten Up" (or "Howlin' For You" as a more intense example). The kick and snare sound so massive. I would imagine a top layer of these sent to a Speakerphone, perhaps with Decapitator. Hmm.. Would be really happy to learn how this tone was made! And this is just a part of a wonderful job Tchad did on this album. How vocal ambience sits so well in the tracks is another thing that amazes me. Congratulations and thank you Tchad for the inspiration! Best, Alex
